Corporate Social Responsibility

We Want To Make A Difference

We take corporate social responsibility extremely seriously and for us it is not enough to simply comply with the minimum requirements. We want to make a difference.

We understand our customers expect us to deliver our promises on quality and price and this is no different when considering their growing awareness to responsible business. At Rūma there is a deep understanding and belief that we must help address some of the issues facing society today.

Ethical

When buying a Rūma product we understand our customers expect it will be beautifully made. What our customers may not know is that we take the same amount of care to make sure that we support the skilled workers who make our products.

We work closely with our suppliers to help them understand our expectations and to help drive improvements. We monitor their progress through regular visits and third-party audits.

We are determined to make sure when you buy a Rūma product, great care and attention to detail is taken to create the product and better the livelihoods of the workers involved.

Social

At Rūma we understand family and community values and it’s really important that we work together to help improve the lives of others that are less fortunate while at the same time giving something back to the communities within which we operate.

Not only do we want to help you improve your home but we want to help others improve their lives, by finding ways that we can contribute gifts and services to those around us.

With the help of our employees, suppliers and customers we will continue to carefully select chosen charities and project that we hope can make a real difference.

Environment

At Rūma want to minimise our impact on the environment and are always listening to our customers and employees to find new solutions.

We understand the importance of sustainability and regularly challenge and encourage our suppliers to find new materials that can be easily recycled.

We have recently changed all lighting in our office and warehouse to LED and are exploring other ways we can reduce our carbon footprint.

We enforce EU Timber regulations, ensuring that all our wood and wood-based products are sourced from ethical and environmentally responsible sources, and we aim to remove all plastic from our packaging so that it is 100% recyclable by the end of 2021.

The challenges we face are evolving and the journey is never likely to end but we are determined to make the right decisions and share with you our experiences.

Modern Slavery Act

The Modern Slavery Act 2015 is an Act of Parliament that sets out a range of measures on how modern slavery and human trafficking is dealt with in the UK.

Rūma fully supports this Act and our Statement outlines what Rūma is doing to address this problem within our supply chain and business generally.
